Boarding Officer

The Boarding Officer supports shipping operations by ensuring compliance, documentation accuracy, and customer requirements. Oversees supplier evaluations, inspections, and record-keeping. Manages shipping issues, damages and lost freight claims, while maintaining safety and monitoring customer-supplied property. Ensures cargo, tank cleaning, and stability compliance, while enhancing customer satisfaction through prompt issue resolution and efficient operations.

As a Boarding Officer, you will:
• Prepare and follow up on daily operational documentation.
• Coordinate vessel husbandry matters, port operations, shipyard calls and strait transits as needed
• Manage effective communication with vessels, port authorities and clients
• Prepare and finalise proforma and final disbursement accounts
• Report to the Operations Manager and work alongside our operations, sales and finance teams.

• Ensure shipping protocols and documentation meet the requirements
• Review customer requirements and customer correspondence
• Investigate and resolve shipping quality issues, damages or lost freight claims
• Maintain safety standards and procedures
• Ensure supplier evaluations are carried out based on standard procedure
• Ensure purchased products and services are inspected
• Safe keep records related to inspection
• Ensure the control and monitoring of customer-supplied property
• Ensure cargo requirements, tank cleaning and stability are met
• Be responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction, resolving complaints in a timely manner and conducting work as per procedures

• A strong understanding of shipping operations, documentation and compliance requirements
• Experience in supplier evaluations, quality inspections and record-keeping
• Problem-solving skills to manage shipping issues, including damages and lost freight claims
• Knowledge of safety standards, cargo requirements and tank cleaning procedures
• The ability to monitor and manage customer-supplied property effectively
• Excellent communication skills to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve concerns promptly
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to enforce operational procedures efficiently

• A keen eye for detail and a proactive attitude to help keep operations on track
• Strong communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders
• A willingness to learn and grow within the shipping industry
• A team-oriented approach to support different departments and operations

• 2–3 years of relevant experience in a similar position
• Valid Ship Agency Personal Identification Card
• Valid Driving License
• Strong time management skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• B2+ level proficiency in spoken and written English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
• Analytical, organised, and self-motivated
• Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree (graduates preferred)
• Military service completed or exempt (for male candidates)
• Strong English skills (reading, writing and speaking)
